Nancy Osgood Biography

Nancy Osgood is founder and president of The Osgood Group, a management consulting firm that helps nonprofit organizations and socially focused businesses improve performance, effectiveness and sustainability. Her work across diverse industries and functions falls into two broad categories: funding model/revenue generation (earned and contributed) and large-scale planning and restructuring to support profitable growth and high performance. She has led engagements in arts and culture, education, social services and philanthropy. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, the firm has clients locally, nationally and internationally. She started the firm in 2009. 

Nancy is on the faculty of Case Western Reserve University where she has taught Revenue Planning, Marketing and Earned Income courses since 2009. Her work with students and nonprofit executives earned her the Masters of Nonprofit Organizations Teaching Award.  She has also developed and delivered revenue generation and planning workshops and webinars for executive directors, boards and nonprofit leaders that focus on helping organizations strengthen their funding model and long-term sustainability.  

Performance management has been a key theme of Nancy’s career and the work of The Osgood Group.  She has served as Chief of Staff and advisor to Mario Morino, contributing to Leap of Reason: Managing to Outcomes in an Era of Scarcity. She is also a founding Leap of Reason Ambassador, an international community of professionals dedicated to high performance. 

During her tenure on the senior executive team of The Cleveland Orchestra, Nancy led institutional planning and new business initiatives inside and outside Ohio. She established a European board and built a Europe-based fund development program, which she continued to lead for a decade as a retained consultant.  She restructured and led marketing and development departments and initiatives, developed new concert formats and launched patron engagement initiatives resulting in earned and contributed revenue growth. 

As Director of Marketing for Case Western Reserve University and the Weatherhead School, Nancy worked with internationally recognized faculty to brand and market their areas of expertise, develop new programs, and build earned revenue. 

Nancy’s decade of experience in private industry includes leadership roles in marketing and product management, business development, and operations management, in both the business-to-business and consumer sectors, for Progressive Corporation and Cole National Corporation. 

Nancy’s community work is focused on music and education.  She is a founder and served as board chair of ChamberFest Cleveland and has been involved as a trustee or advisor to many organization including El Sistema Cleveland, Rainey Institute, Lawrence School, and Apollo’s Fire- The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra.   

Nancy earned an MBA from the University of Michigan, a BA (German and Political Science) from Central Michigan University, and an Advanced Certificate in German Language from the Goethe Institute.  She speaks German and holds dual citizenship in the US and Germany.  She enjoys swimming, cycling, hiking, singing and travel.  Nancy was born and raised in Detroit, MI.
